Smoking Report

As part of our requirements in the course, we have to make a presentation for a subject related to business management. In this report I will write about the student Saleem Al Amri H00134725. His topic was about smoking. Smoking is not an interesting subject, because we know the harm caused by smoking, and had previously read about the subject; and also Saleem has not added any new information that maybe important to us; in this report I will be talking about the subject and style of presentation as well as its contents of the offer.

Smoking is boring  where we learn it on a daily basis; the student has not added any new information. And also he did not have confidence in himself, as well as his voice wasn’t clear and he had no eyes contact. And he has difficulty to deliver the information. Saleem didn’t prepare for the presentation so he was reading from the screen.

Now I will write about the slides in terms of content and formatting. The slides were clear as well as the font; he used some pictures. Most of the text in the slides was poor English language; the translation was not good and he included incorrect meanings. He also included a video to show the harm of smoking.

Overall the presentation was poor, Saleem should work more on his English language and also he has to work on his presentation skills. The subject is very important for the grade so he should choose a good subject.

Report presentation

Faisal Al Hosani ID 960003762 presented for us last week in the class F16 in our Abu Dhabi Men’s College at 1500 about fishing and spear fishing. Overall it was a very interesting presentation.

First I will write about his topic; it was about fishing and spear fishing. It was a very interesting topic and also fishing is his hobby which he dose weekly. Also he introduced his topic very well. On the other hand Faisal was very comfortable and self confident; he spoke in a clear voice and he used eyes contact. Also he was standing at the side of the screen. Faisal didn’t use any notes but he was prepared well, so he didn’t read from the screen. His presentation was organized well and he has good knowledge about this topic.

About the PowerPoint slides was very clear with a good background color and font size. He included some pitchers about his subject and some video to introduce his topic in a good way. But there was a lot of pitchers on each slid it was confusing. Overall it was a very interesting topic and I've learned new ways and tools on the subject of fishing. It was a very enjoyable presentation where he was talking with all comfort and a good voice and also using body language. But he should work on the PowerPoint program and learn how to arrange slides and format the words.

Venue

Date of meeting: 18th March 2013
Time of meeting: 16:30
Venue: F16
Group members:
Chair: Mohammed Thani.
Secretary: Saleem Salim.
Participant: Abdullah Rashid.
Venue preparation:
Grouping of chairs round tables

Agenda:

·         Few parking areas.

·         No lighting in the parking area .

·         Improper use of parking by students.

·         There is no space between the parking.

Minutes

1.    Abdullah thinks that the problem is with the few parking an places, but the problem is with the students because they use the parking area in a improper way. So to solve this problem Abdullah suggested that we have to involve the police to get the students to park their cars in a proper way.

2.    Abdullah added that there are non-used areas in the campus, so we can build extra parking areas there.

3.    The chairman Mohamed suggested that they build a parking building that can contain more cars, but Abdullah interrupted Mohamed by adding that we should provide golf carts for the students to deliver them to their class.

4.    Also Mohamed says that there is a machine that can take only 3 parking spaces to provide 10 parking space.

5.    Abdullah came back with an idea that we can build another level of parking area in the present parking area, and Mohamed proposed that we can take the playing ground and convert it to parking till we finish the new car parking building and he suggested renting in the al Jazeera club.

6.    Abdullah also thinks that we should penalize students who use parking in an improper way and link the violation to the student’s record.

7.    The chairman said that also we have a problem of lighting in the parking area, so Abdullah says we have to motivate the students to build lights that work by the sun’s energy.

Recommendations:

1-    The first solution is that we will rent the stadium in the Al Jazeera club and use the playground area for parking and build a second level on the existed parking area behind the mosque.

2-     We recommend to choose the penalty system and to link it with the student record.

3-    Also we have to light up the parking area by using renewable energy and by motivating the student to build those lights

First Mr. Hedley asked Mohamed to introduce himself. His voice was clear but his English language was poor so he had difficulty to use words and speak. He was confident about himself and his eye contact was excellent and he also used body language what was very positive, but the answer was not enough and he could make a lot of points for himself. He just mentioned his name, age and place of birth and he was able to mention also other things about his life. Preparation was excellent where he answered all the questions that relate to the company and job. A difficult question was expected salary, he could not answer the immediately and did not give a useful answer. But all questions about the company he answered them clearly.
Overall Mohamed was very good in this interview; also his human skills are very good and also his computer skills are good. But he should work on his English language. I will hire him because he has good experience in this job. Then we can work on his English.
